auckland

new zealand

Well, another continent i have arrived in and yeah its a nice place.I;ve just been walking about auckland since yesterday morning, getting a feel for the place.Lots of nice sunshine and not too busy a place.
Done my skyjump of the skytower this afternoon.I was a bit nervous before i went over the edge, but u drop about 10 metres and stop for your photoshoot, then after dangling for about 20 secs you are in a controlled descend down to the landing area.Pretty boring, only the height at the edge and the initial jump got my heart beating slightly faster.
I.ve booked a hop off/on bus journey with stray for to pick me up moro morning.the guy at the company said i really should leave auckland as soon as(cause my time is short in nz) to benefit from my trip.So its going to get me round the top island and down to wellington in about 6/8 days depending on what activities i take in.This was the best option for me as ive not really planned nz so they are doing the work for me.
so thats me for another week settled.yee haa

Totally different place to cusco, even though they both have the main plazas.very few tourists here i noticed, the plaza is the place for the locals to hang out.Big difference is not many touts/beggars here though the driving is just as comical and dreadful.
I went on the colca canyon tour,2 days ,a few villages and a hotel all to myself.i wondered why i had the honeymoon suite with balcony. At night was the local folkshow which i participated in,glad i had a bottle of wine. Then onto a disco with the tour rep, ghost town by the specials would have been an appropiate song to have been played.
Unfortunately being the weekend i think the condors were on a day trip,3 hrs waiting and none appeared.
So thats my encounter with peru come to and end.I think i will come back to south america and travel more here, the culture is interesting and its pretty cheap too.

well thats me back from my 4 day trek along the inca trail.i got to admit it was n hard work and physically exhausting for me,but i fought through the pain and was determined to finish.SAS travel was a great comapny to book with and i think i ended up heavier than when i started, their food was great.
thats me finished in cusco and its a real good place to visit.i think i may have missed out on some other places here to visit, but my trek was the main reason to come here.

Well thats me had a few days here and ive been fine with the altitude.yet .lol. done white water rafting which was a great rush.had my local alpaco dish which was way under cooked and put me off eating anything that night.
Chillin today to prepare for my 4 day inca trek and thats about it.i have noticed each day around 4pm the sky darkens lighteneing flashes and thunderv and we have showers. Now i am witnessing the heaviest and largest of a hailstorm i have ever seen. The grass in the courtyard is now a sheet of white and the thunder is banging away.unfortunately i am kinda expecting this for my inca trek.aargh

Flying into cusco i was amazed with the lushness of the green scenery and hillsides.Cusco is surrounded by hills which have many of its 300,00 population living on the slopes.
After engine trouble on the first plane, transfered to second plane and no luggage arriving i was relaxed to my amazement.
Hostal Loki is about 4 blocks from the plaza upwards and up some very steep steps. The altitude knocked my breath away completely(no thanks to taxi who dropped me of at bottom of avenue). This place is full of character,so original and beautiful. This is a true backpackers retreat with its own courtyard and hammocks.
I walked about till my luggage arrived later that day. This place is so beautiful and i can see why its so popular
The peruvians are unique in their own description, facially and colourful in thier clothes.
my roomate susannah invited me out for dinner with a few other but we ended up going ourselves and went to a dutch cinema cafe.Lets describe it as walking into someones livingroom,tv in corner, mum babysitting a 2 yr old and a few tables. We took a look at menu out of politeness and decided to leave.strange one.
Found another place ,then back to hostel for a few beers. Then a good sleep was had by me.
