Saturday was so quiet for this city we thought it strange.we did the temple tour(3 out of about 50 was enough) .
That evening whilst drinking i decided to enter a thai boxing match,on the assurance it was light punches and kicks.i warmed up for 45 mins and it was time for me to enter the ring to the sound of rocky(kidding).i used my 6 ft 2 advantage over the 5 ft thai with lots of kicks but he soon threw me to the floor.War was enevitable so i laid into him and in the 3rd round after pulling his head down and kneeing and punching him around the body he was clean knocked out.i danced around him to a standing ovation of the proclaimers 100 miles.
Ok ,maybe it was fixed but it was good fun..
Next day i did the monkey show, pretty poor and i really did not agree with the monkeys tied and chained up,even though sign says they are released into open cages afterwards.
Final day and i did which included elephant riding and bamboo rafting, both of which were fun.Coming down the river on the raft and seeing an elephant in front of you was strange,we squeezed past him but were expecting a soaking from his trunk, however we were wet already as along the way lots of familys have picnics on bamboo huts built on the water edge, and they tend to saok us travellers as we pass by.
Nightlife is ok here, especially if you reqire the services of local girls who sit in every bar encouraging us male tourists to buy then drinks and buy them back to your room.Or for the males who prefer the company of ladyboys, you can have your pick.
I did however enjoy the food here, good quality and cheap.
Now im off again headin to laos.....
